Private Jewish New Orleans History Tour

Overview
Private 2 Hour Walking Tour for 1-4 Guests - Our tour through the French Quarter emphasizes how Jews have contributed to the multi-ethnic gumbo known as New Orleans. As you walk through the original city, you will learn about the earliest Jewish settlers, who could easily have lost their identity in a Catholic colony. During the tour you can see where those who arrived during the 19th and 20 thcenturies lived and worked. You will discover how they contributed to the development and growth of the city throughout the past 300 years. They joined all immigrants adding to the unique mingling of the old world and new that is New Orleans. Jews are among the strongest preservationists of the French Quarter and one of its most significant achievements, Jazz. They also are having an impact on that other great New Orleans cultural contribution to the world, food.

I have lived in New Orleans a number of years and thought I had heard most of the Jewish history. Boy was I wrong. Charlie gave a great tour that covered many aspects of Jewish history. I learned more about Judah Touro than I had before and a great deal about the contributions of Jews to New Orleans. I liked that Charlie could connect a number of different locations together into a great story. The 2-hour tour was well worth it for Jews and Gentiles.
