Overview

Learn how to surf at the birth place of surfing with your very own certified Waikiki Beachboy. We are located in the heart of Waikiki, just steps away from the water's edge!

A private lesson is the best way to maximize your time on the water. Kids 12 and younger must take a private, one-on-one lesson for safety reasons. All participants must be able to swim.

Make sure to ask about the photo services (with additional charge) to capture the moment.

We had 3 eager young boys, 7, 9, and 10 from the Pacific Northwest visiting for a few weeks. Born and raised in Hawaii, I taught my sons to surf when they were at a similar age over 20 years ago. I have been familiar with Waikiki beach services for many years and did not hesitate to ask them to give my boys surf lessons. Each boy had his own surf instructor who had all three standing up and catching waves within a few minutes of being in the lineup. Of course, the dry land orientation and expert tips on surfing before going into the water contributed to their success on the waves. I cannot overstate how “stoked” the boys were and they all agreed that this was the highlight of their trip to Hawaii. They have done all kinds of things since they’ve been here, so that is very high praise. I would definitely recommend Waikiki beach services to visitors, friends, and family. The staff is friendly, courteous, and professional. Mahalo.

I was hesitant to take a surf lesson at 42 as I have never even attempted to surf, skateboard, snowboard, etc....but I am so glad I did. Matt was the best instructor: patient, encouraging, positive, and knowledgable. Thanks to his excellent teaching, and some well timed pushes, I caught more than one wave! He made me feel like I was ripping the Banzai Pipeline:) I would highly recommend this company and instructor. Couldn't have had a better experience! Thanks, Jennifer

I took a private surf lesson with Vince and he was the man! I had taken a lesson or two before and watched videos about popping up and practiced trying to get ahead of the game a little bit. Vince told me to do some things that went against the grain from things I had previously heard (going to your knees first, grabbing the rails, etc.). I listened to Vince and I was standing up in no time. By applying what Vince taught me I was able to go back out a few more days and catch waves on my own, even moving down to a smaller board on my last day. I would also recommend getting the photo package. I got some great videos and pictures to remember my first waves!
