My very first outdoor climbing experience was today - at Garden of the Gods with climb Guide: Ryan Anderson from Front Line. I was completely impressed with the entire experience. Ryan called me the day before to make sure I was prepped and if I had any questions - which I did because I am such a newbie. When I arrived at the the Garden - Ryan was completely prepared and had me all ready to on our adventure. The weather was iffy - and a back up was put into place. I asked so many questions - Ryan was an excellent instructor - a complete climbing encyclopedia! I was able to complete a 5.6 before the rain came - and during the shower when the rocks where to slippery to climb- Ryan gave me a private lesson on anchoring and top roping--- so valuable. I will be back using Front Range for another climbing adventure!

We travelled to Colorado Springs for a conference and went to visit The Garden of the Gods while there. While there, we found out about rock-climbing opportunities in the park and were able to book a two rock-climbing gig with Front Range Climbing Company. We had very little time and they were very accommodating. We got Tim as an instructor and he was top class! He said that it was his first year instructing but we wouldn't be able to tell if he didn't volunteer that information. He set up the ropes at the South Gateway Rock and explained to us the best way to climb it. This was the first time for us climbing outdoors so hearing his instructions was very helpful. He was a solid, confident belayer which instilled confidence in us while up on the ropes. Also, he was exceptionally encouraging too. When we were tired and desperate to move further he propelled us forward with his cheers and tips.

My 8 yr old son witnessed climbers on a visit to Garden of the Gods and said "I want to do that!" I didn't think it would be possible for someone his age with NO prior climbing experience...turns out I was wrong. I called and Isaac set up a 2 hr private climb for us. We met Patrick and his trainee Tim and within 10 minutes my son was scaling rock formations. They taught him proper use of all the equipment and we're helpful and encouraging with every step...literally...lol! Patrick was FANTASTIC! A great motivator and knew just when to push him to try harder and when to realize he'd reached his limits. All the visitors in the park who passed by stopped to gaze in wonder at this little boy on these giant steep rocks! He made a total of 5 climbs in 2 hrs! It was an AMAZING experience. They tailored it just to his needs and ability as he progressed in his climbing skills and comfort level. Highly recommend this company to anyone interested in trying climbing out. I think I might even give it a go next time...and I'm a whimp who's afraid of heights. Thanks Patrick and Tim for the experience of a lifetime! You have sparked the desire to continue learning to climb in my son!
