As a cruise ship passenger - there were many choices for outings in Ketchikan. This was a very lucky find. My friends and I wanted to try our luck at fishing and stumbled upon Captain William. Loved his perfect sized boat and excellent fishing gear. His knowledge of the local waters got us limited out on both King Salmon and Halibut. This was our first time fishing for both species and we all had the time of our lives! We can't wait to plan a return trip and go out with Captain William again!

I wanted to take my two sons (8 and 11) fishing while we were in port at Ketchikan. Shocked at the prices of the halibut fishing on the cruise excursions, I went off on my own to see what I could find. I am so glad I did! I was a little nervous at first to go fishing by myself with my two sons, but was quickly put to ease after I met William. He is a local family man with two younger children of his own. He took such great care of us while we were out. He patiently worked with both of my boys and me (i don't fish), to catch two halibut (and a shark!) He also worked so hard to get us some salmon also, but we were a little early for the season. As we made it back to the dock, we were in a rush to get back on the boat. William offered to take our fish to get shipped back for us so we would not be so rushed. We can't wait to get them and fix them for dinner! My oldest son (who did not want to go in the first place) said it was his favorite part of the entire cruise. I highly recommend William for all of your fishing adventures. If we ever go back, we will look him up!

Had booked a fishing trip on cruise ship, but night before they cancelled it. On arrival into Ketchikan, left ship and went shopping for tour on dock. Captain William had already left with another customer but came back for my nephew and myself. After he lead us through the fishing licensing, we went to his boat. The boat was clean, very well maintained and comfortable. He gave us a safety briefing before we left port and made haste to the Halibut grounds. After trying to locate fish, he decided to move us to another location for Yellow Eye (Red Snapper). It started to rain and as I hadn't been prepared to go fishing, I started to get wet. Captain William literally gave me the jacket off his back to keep me drier. In very short order we caught our limit. As time was running out we headed back toward port but he saw that a commercial fish boat had caught a salmon. He did everything he could to help us catch a Salmon too. Unfortunately we were about 2 weeks early and we only felt one on the line. He returned us to the dock on time, leaving us with very pleasant memories to go home with.
