Went on a full day offshore trip on July 10, 2022. We ended up catching 2 large dorado, but besides that got pretty unlucky with how, in one instance, the hundreds of fish right next to the boat simply refused to bite live bait and how few kelp paddies were around on that day despite heading out 50 (I think?) miles south of the border searching for a bite. While the bite could have been better, I think Captain Lasky and his deckhand tried as hard as they could to give us a good experience. There simply weren't many kelps, and the ones we found were devoid of game fish except for one. Overall, it was still a fun time. Our party consisted of mostly beginners and the captain did great helping us out. Was pretty cool sailing through pods of hundreds of porpoising dolphins as they hunted bait fish and also interesting trolling for tuna around a giant aircraft carrier that happened to be in the area.

Had an awesome half day trip with Captain Andrew at Awol! He was patient with us and the fish while sharing his knowledge and experience of the water. Very personable and positive throughout. Great stories and education. The boat was beautiful and well maintained, plus the gear was all top notch. I plan on booking another trip come summer.

Left the dock in mission bay 6:00 am targeting yellowtail and dorado on kelps. Got a couple scoops of sardines at the bait barge then headed west. First few patties of the day were dry, pulled a single yellow and saw some dorado that were not biting, off to the next patty, by this time it was early afternoon and had found what we needed, a good score of yellowtail and decent size dorado on a wide open kelp! Captain Andrew kept searching until we found the right one and it payed off. All the fish in the ice, we came in going 30, a smooth trip back in, then Andrew cut the fish for us and bagged it up. Bags of fish and a good time is what I got. Thank you will come again!
