We had an awesome time! We were on our honeymoon and it was my second time surfing but my husband's first time. Our instructors were Tegan and (I think) Matt on 12/9. We received a quick lesson prior to getting out on the water. There were quite a few people out on the water but it apparently wasn't super crowded. I really appreciated that Tegan and Matt were talking with us because there was a bit of time between sets and some of the other instructors from other companies were just talking to each other which I think would have been super awkward just sitting out on the water in silence. But Tegan and Matt made is super enjoyable. The waves also weren't too aggressive which was great for beginners. We caught some great waves and can't wait to have another surfing experience.
A few notes about the beach: the beach does not have a place to buy snacks or drinks so just in case you are like us and don't come prepared, you will not be able to get this at the beach. There is a supermarket close by so it wasn't an issue since we were pretty early. The beach is also pretty rocky where you start to paddle out from, so water shoes are a must, but Kona Town Surf provides rash guards and water shoes for you in case you don't have. Overall we had a lot of fun and would definitely do this again.
