We paid for the more detailed tour and were quite disappointed. We were rushed around and the guide did not make sure that everyone was in the room before she started speaking. Some rooms could only be seen through the doors so had to be looked into one by one and once again she never bothered waiting to check that everyone had time to do this. Other tour guides seemed to be considering their party our guide did not. It is a lovely house and the outside buildings and grounds are full of things to see and with audio it is even better, pity about the house guide. 6th December 2021.

Mount Vernon is a must see during the Christmas season. You will learn about how the Washington's celebrated the holiday. The decorations will definitely put you into the holiday spirit. You may also meet the camel! Be sure to ask about Aladdin and learn about why he is visiting the mansion. The candle tour was magical at night.

Extremely well preserved and presented. I was part of a teacher institute, which allowed me access to see the sunrise, have a private tour of the mansion. What I especially appreciated was the attention to telling the whole story of our nation's founding, including the Enslaved, indigenous, and women. Fall was the perfect time, since thecleaves were turning and we didn't have to fuss with large crowds or heat/humidity. So much to see I need to go again.
