Well, for some reason, TripAdvisor let me post my pictures yesterday, but did not post my review to go with it. Our family of 4 did a private tour to Valley of Fire and Zion National Park from Las Vegas. It is a long trip, but so worth it. Jimmy Vegas was once again our guide, and if you read my review of our trip to the Grand Canyon in April, you know that we think he is great. Jimmy picked us up at our hotel at 6:30 am in a shiny Lincoln Navigator and off we went. The first stop was Valley of Fire. There we saw beautiful rock formations, petroglyphs, and Big Horn Sheep. Jimmy knew the best spots for photo ops. From there we traveled across Arizona into Utah and to Zion. We stopped and ate at a nice restaurant just outside the park, that had a great view of the canyon. After eating we went inside the park. Thankfully, Detours has a pass that allows them to drive into the park instead of having to take shuttle busses. That was a really big perk. Once there we hiked up to the middle pools overlooking the canyon and the Virgin River. We were able to take in the beauty from several different elevations. Also, there were two routes to hike up, and Jimmy knew the one that was less strenuous, and took us on that one. Overall, the day was absolutely wonderful. If you are in the Vegas area and thinking of doing a tour somewhere, Detours should definitely be your tour of choice, and especially Jimmy Vegas if you can get him. There is such an advantage on taking the private tours versus the group tours that you will get to see and learn things that you never would on the group tour. Plus, if you get Jimmy Vegas, by the time your tour is over, he will make you feel like you are family.
