What a breath of fresh air to step out of the ‘hocus pocus’ of beautiful & historic Salem, Massachusetts. Real Pirate Salem was a fantastic, immersive experience to board the galley of Whydah, & the pirate history of New England. Julianna, our guide, was an AMAZING person who walked us throughout the tour. Definitely, if she’s available, take advantage of her expertise and willingness to provide you a treasured experience. Thank you Real Pirate Salem for keeping the town historic!

I was pleasantly surprised to realize this was more than just your typical "pirate" museum. There is so much real history right there in front of you. Yes it is about the love story between a pirate and the love of his life, but it also gives a history lesson about the "Golden Age of Piracy". Our pirate guide Jason was so knowledgeable and actually gave me a great appreciation for pirates as there is more to their story than portrayed by Hollywood. Seeing such well preserved, 300+ year old pirate treasures and belongings is exciting, but the real thing that will send chills through the body of any history-loving person is getting to touch the silver coins found on the ship's wreckage. This exhibt is a "must-do" for anyone visiting Salem!

We visited this museum thinking it would be your typical touristy place, but we were absolutely surprised at the historical accuracy of the exhibits. The museum is based on the Whydah and they have actual artifacts, including real pirate coins that you can touch! The museum is wonderfully done and extremely interesting! I would highly recommend a visit here!
