Many of the best clubs and pubs in the area are housed in the historic structures that dot the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood of Richmond. This trip is created to give you a taste of the best Richmond has to offer, like Farmhouse hard cider, as well as a window into the afterlife of some of its people, such as the four ghosts rumored to haunt St. John's Church.

What To Expect

Edgar Allan Poe Museum

The Edgar Allan Poe Museum, which honors the author's time in Richmond and is located close to his house and place of employment, is housed in the city's oldest standing structure. Poe's ghost has reportedly been seen in numerous locations throughout the house. This could be because of his attachment to some of his personal items.

This is the worst tour experience I’ve had. Throughout the tour were supposed to stop at local bars or breweries to grab a drink, hence the title of the tour. This was very misleading. We met outside of a bar for the beginning of the tour and we were supposed to go in for a drink as stated on the tour information. The guide did not proceed to stop to get a drink until halfway through the tour. Which by then we were supposed to have stopped by at least 3 stops for drinks. The tour guide himself was not meant for the job. He was very quiet. Very unenthusiastic. The information he was telling throughout the tour as well wasn’t informational. He did not come prepared and it was extremely frustrating. I honestly could’ve gave a better tour by doing a little google research. My girlfriend and I were not the only people who felt this way. When people realized that the tour guide was not stopping for drinks and his lack of preparedness, they left. I don’t know if the tour guide was a filler for someone else who couldn’t have made it or what.

My family and I had the pleasure of joining Matt for a ghost tour in Richmond, VA, and it was an unforgettable experience. Tour guide was knowledgeable and locations were interesting, disappointing we couldnt go to the Richbrau location but over all fun spooky activity!
