River Arts District Tip-Based Sightseeing Walking Tour

Overview
For years, the River Arts District or "RAD," has been a popular spot for visitors; however, many guests arrive with the question: "What do we do once we arrive?" In response, I created a tour that would hit the highlights and provide my guests with a hands-on RAD experience they would not forget!

Starting at Magnetic Theatre, we will walk down Depot Street to learn about the history of the RAD, the artists and visit ONE gallery! We stop at the Grind Coffee for a taste of local brews, tour the historical Grey Eagle Music Venue and taste Taqueria snacks, view a glass blowing demonstration at the NC Glass Center. Then walk alongside the river, learning stories about the legends of the French Broad and what activities you can do on the river post-tour!

The shorter, 11am tour, will taste gelato and finish at cotton mill.
The 2pm tour will finish on Foundy Street to learn about the graffiti in the area and taste some local wine or beer at the two breweries.

This visit focused on the River Arts District. I was impressed with the art but more impressed with the working artists who took the time to talk with us about their craft. I would also highly recommend the GrayLine trolley tour. Very personable tour guides with a wealth of knowledge and stories about Asheville.

Wonderful experience. We ended up being the only ones on the tour and got a personalized experience. We usually go to art museums at each city we visit, but this was so much better as in multiple galleries we got to meet the artist and get great details about their work. Only thing we missed is being able to see some glass blowing but didn't take away from the great experience. They do recommend $30 tip per person although you can give what you want, but for some it is good to know in advance
