Chief Experience Officer and local historian, Dave Lively, will guide you beyond closed gates of Rocky Mountain National Park, leaving the pavement, parking lots and heavily used trails behind to reveal the stories of the region's history, people and wildlife.

He will shine light on the rich history of Rocky in a way that brings the adventures of the people of the past to life. With unique stories and one of a kind photos he will connect you to events and personal journeys from the past, transporting you back in time and allowing you to visualize this wilderness in a new light.

Dave is a resident and well-known historian in Grand Lake, and the only Certified Tour Guide in Grand County, Colorado. He lives less than ½ mile from Rocky Mountain National Park, his backyard. His family homesteaded what is now the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, giving him generations of unique detailed knowledge, personal stories and photographs.

Dave gave us an amazing tour of Rocky Mountain National Park. He taught us history and helped us learn all about the beautiful scenery in the park. He gave insight and shared stories that will truly enhance our understanding and visits to the park. We appreciate all the time he took to answer our questions, take our pictures, and show us amazing scenery. We highly recommend his tours to anyone wanting to learn more about and enjoy Rocky Mountain National Park.

I highly recommend this tour with Dave. He is knowledgeable of the area, and has great personal and historic stories. The time went fast and I was sorry when our tour was completed. This is a real opportunity to learn the history behind Rocky Mountain National Park.

I highly recommend Dave Lively for a Rocky Mountain National Par tour. I booked a "Step-On" tour with Dave for my Family Reunion. I rented a coach bus, and Dave met us at our Hotel in Broomfield and guided us through the day tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as the surrounding area and Colorado in general. His narrative was engaging and informative. His organizational and customer service skills are excellent. When I called him on the phone to discuss booking a "Step-On" tour, he gladly answered all of my questions and provided lots of details for planning this type of trip. He also prepared a draft itinerary and suggested coach bus rental companies I could contact. He was very open to my suggested itinerary changes, and very happy to accommodate them. Additionally, on the day of the tour he thought ahead about every detail, not only about the information he would share with us as the Historian Guide, but also providing printed maps of Colorado, as well as printed Lunch Maps of Grand Lake for Lunch. Additionally he brought a cooler full of bottled water to share with my 40 family members, to ensure no one got altitude sickness. On the day of the tour, Dave also worked directly with the bus driver to ensure they were both on the same page about which route they would take, and exactly where they would stop along the way. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly encourage you to hire Dave Lively for your next tour!
