We were looking forward to this as we've been to Maui many times but this was our first sunset dinner cruise. For a large group dining experience, we thought the food was actually pretty good. We tried the prime rib and Mahi Mahi, with cheesecake for desert. The wait staff did very well and were quite friendly. We enjoyed our table on the deck, with great viewing on the Maui coastline & of course a beautiful sunset. But despite this the experience was a hard pass for us. The vessel was a bit run down, especially the lower deck. Excursion included a free mai tai and 2 additional drinks of your choice, all of which were so watered down you couldn't taste any alcohol. The "biggest dance floor in Maui" was non-existent. The captain (when you could even hear him over the mic) had no personality. And the entertainment was not good. It was basically a one woman "band": a gal played the electric piano & ukulele karaoke style to a soundtrack. Her voice was fine, but her song selection was not suited to her & she never stopped! For those SNL fans out there it reminded us of the Will Farrell & Cheri Oteri music teacher skits. Imagine a 50 something lady on an electric piano singing Uptown Funk. And then the captain comes out asking us to applaud so we don't hurt her feelings??? We felt bad for her because she was really trying, and she wasn't awful, but goodness! A DJ would have been better, & then at least turning it down during dinner so we could have a conversation without shouting. And then delivering the "check" (excursion already paid for) & instructing us to tip based on the entire amount of the excursion (not value of the dinner). Yeah, this one is a hard pass.
