Sacramento Ghosts: Gunslingers and Ghouls Tour

Overview
One of the earliest towns to be founded in California was Sacramento during the Gold Rush. Old Sac is committed to restoring historical structures so that we can think back on the past. People from all over the world relocated to Sacramento with the hope of getting wealthy. But a number of tragedies, including floods, fires, and a troubled history, cast a shadow on those dreams.

We will visit haunted trains, boats, and tunnels throughout our tour. Discover what lurks below the city's streets. Learn about the disasters that took place in the region during the early days of rail travel. Meet two businessmen that created this city during the Gold Rush and learn about a young child whose heart-warming story has touched people's hearts all around Sacramento. Our exclusive Sacramento Ghosts tour covers all of this and more.

What To Expect
1
California State Railroad Museum
Our next stop is the California State Railroad Museum. The museum was built by railroad enthusiasts in 1937. The museum contains 21 complete railroad cars, linked to exploitation and death, with the ghosts said to be appeased by something called the Hungry Ghost Festival.
2
Sacramento History Museum
We're actually going to this museum next! The only museum devoted to Sacramento history is the Sacramento History Museum, which debuted in 1985. It is a rather straightforward museum that mostly focuses on the development and gold rush of Sacramento. The museum houses the belongings of May, a young girl who unfortunately perished from encephalitis.
3
River City Saloon
This building once served as the city's hospital, and many of its tragedies are linked to the cholera epidemic that claimed countless lives in the 19th century.

Our guide, Lydia, was so great! She was friendly, had a lot to say about Sacramento’s real history AND the paranormal. 10/10

Lydia was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and so fun! She made it spooky but historically accurate all while being bubbly and personable. She paid attention to all the guests, interacted with us enthusiastically when we had comments and thoughtfully answered questions with more than a standard amount of info. You can tell she’s passionate about the history and it really comes out in her excited narration of all the stories surrounding deaths and tragedies in Sacramento. We paid the extra for the extended tour and she really came alive when we visited several other historical spots, and she even told us (in amazing detail) about all the serial killers that have called Sacramento, and the greater Norther California area, their home. 10/10 would recommend to anyone, ghost enthusiast or not. But dress for the weather as the tour is all outdoors :) Thank you, Lydia! You were awesome. :)

Ethan, our guide, didn’t shy away from talking about how really difficult and dangerous, and sometimes downright heartless, life in the 19th century Sacramento was. He included a wealth of information about the perils of life In the century when Sacramento was being built.
