I can't recommend this tour enough! Many of us have a basic grasp of the events pertaining to the 1692 Salem Witchcraft Trials, but Better Than Fiction casts a brilliant light on some of the little known, fascinating, and downright disturbing details that surround this dark chapter in our history. It is no exaggeration to say I was on the edge of my seat (despite standing) during the entire experience, and I can only guess what expressions my face was making in response to the captivating stories I was hearing. Jeff is a masterful speaker and storyteller, bringing you along for an eerie and enlightening journey through the city and staging his tales alongside their corresponding historical sites, some of which you may otherwise easily overlook. A touch of humor balances the grittiness, and an insightful modern lens helps us analyze the behavior of the people witnessing and participating in the trials. Jeff has a great range of knowledge on his topic, and is always willing to answer an extra question or drop extra details as you walk from site to site. Whether you are taking your very first historical tour of Salem or have done them all, I strongly encourage you to add this experience to your list!!

Absolutely excellent tour! The tour leader was extremely knowledgeable, answered all of my questions, and gave me a fuller and deeper understanding of the events surrounding the Salem witch trials and the personalities of the people involved. I highly recommend this tour to all.

Lived in Massachusetts most of my life, but hadn’t ever traveled up to Salem. Took the family up there for Mother’s Day and decided to take advantage of the nice weather and do a walking tour. Salem is full of so much history that I couldn’t believe it when the tour was over! The guid was incredibly knowledgeable, engaged with the crowd and overall seemed to enjoy what he was doing. I’ve been on other walking tours where the guides is dull and really does t want to be there. Not Jeff. I definitely recommend this the the day tour and I’m definitely going to take the night tour come Halloween!!!
