San Andreas Fault Jeep Tour from Palm Desert

Overview
Only Red Jeep Tours can take you to Metate Ranch, located in the heart of the San Andreas Fault Zone.

On this awe-inspiring OPEN-AIR Jeep Tour, you will travel deep into the heart of California’s world-famous San Andreas Fault and witness the forces of nature that have created amazing, steep-walled canyons and the most twisted and tormented landscapes on Earth!

You will be awestruck by the spectacular scenery as your Jeep winds its way through the bones of the earth. During your adventure, you will stop several times for short nature walks, including a short hike through a slot canyon, if desired.

This tour also stops at a natural palm oasis, where water bubbles up from the ground year-round. Here you will learn about how the Cahuilla Indians used desert plants to survive in this inhospitable environment.

A final highlight is a guided tour of our recreated Cahuilla Indian Village that showcases the lifestyle and culture of the Cahuilla people.

We live very close to where the fault is and have been wanting to take this tour for a while. My sister was visiting from "the other side of the mountain" and we decided to make it a girls day. The jeeps are vintage but are kept in great shape. Our driver, Craig, was very good, very knowable and made sure to keep our jeep from the others out there so we weren't all in the same place at once. This tour is not a bouncy trail ride. The paths are well worn and fairly smooth. The views are great and the canyons and faults are spectacular. There is a very small amount a walking but nothing too severe at the 4 stops we made. I consider the cost to be in line with the experience and senior prices are offered. I'd book another tour with Red Jeep.

We were staying in Palm springs for over the Christmas holidays and decided to try something new. We found this tour of the Sand Andreas Fault, the tour was just amazing. Seeing different thing in the national park that no one gets to see up close. We learnt a lot of interesting about the Fault line, Palm Springs, the animals, and at night you learn about the stars and what different stars names are. It is an experience that you will never forget and get to see a place that is untouched by people and the nature that surrounds the place. Highly Recommended. Don't forget to bring a warm jacket when you are doing the night time adventure because it gets cold and chilly.
