San Andreas Fault Jeep Tour from Palm Desert

Overview
Only Red Jeep Tours can take you to Metate Ranch, located in the heart of the San Andreas Fault Zone.

On this awe-inspiring OPEN-AIR Jeep Tour, you will travel deep into the heart of California’s world-famous San Andreas Fault and witness the forces of nature that have created amazing, steep-walled canyons and the most twisted and tormented landscapes on Earth!

You will be awestruck by the spectacular scenery as your Jeep winds its way through the bones of the earth. During your adventure, you will stop several times for short nature walks, including a short hike through a slot canyon, if desired.

This tour also stops at a natural palm oasis, where water bubbles up from the ground year-round. Here you will learn about how the Cahuilla Indians used desert plants to survive in this inhospitable environment.

A final highlight is a guided tour of our recreated Cahuilla Indian Village that showcases the lifestyle and culture of the Cahuilla people.

I have lived in the Coachella Valley for almost 30 years and learned so much about our desert during this tour, I had no idea!! The jeep tour was totally fun, and it was so very interesting and informative. Our Tour Guide, John D. was so personable, and all I kept saying was "how does he retain all of this information?!!" I would highly recommend taking this tour or one of the others this company has to offer, I don't think you can go wrong!!

This was such an entertaining and educational tour! They take really good care of you. They have water, cold towels and snacks. It is a somewhat bumpy ride but very careful drivers in 4w drive jeeps. We had Lane and she really loves her job. We got to taste the palm tree fruit, smell creosote, see where there was lots of water and where there were droughts in the rocks. We learned lots about the faults and the aquifer that feeds this area. We also learned plenty about the wildlife and plantlife. Lane had plenty of stories about the Indians who inhabited the land. So worthwhile!
