Weā€™ve never been on a ghost tour before but this haunted history tour was a fun mixture of San Antonio history and spooky stories. The tour company is housed in the back of the historic Menger Hotel where the tour begins, not far from the Alamo. We walked for about 90 minutes and stopped outside a number of buildings to hear their stories. Our guide, Jennifer, a local teacher, did a great job. Be aware though, that the tour ends at the last stop, not at the Menger Hotel. So if you are like us and are a little disoriented in a new city at night, you might want to tag along with your guide back to the hotel where the tour began.

If you take a ghost tour offered by the Sisters Grimm folks, you will go on a long walk, but it is certainly worth it. We enjoyed our second ghost tour with this company since 2016, and it is a great way to become acclimated with the downtown area of San Antonio. The tour takes you by a number of historic city attractions, including the Menger Hotel, the Alamo, the San Fernando Cathedral, the Spanish Governor's residence, and the city jail (now a Holiday Inn Express). Our tour guide Kelsey was absolutely outstanding. A San Antonio native, she told entertaining stories that were appropriate for kids of all ages. She also let it slip that she was a trained opera singer and entertained us with a couple of numbers (including her version of "Happy Birthday" to one patron). Great experience -- fun and educational.

I've taken this tour twice, two years apart, and loved it both times. The guides are extremely entertaining and kind. They do a fantastic job of balancing historical fact with the desire for a good yarn. On one visit I had the dinner and tour and the food was great. I'll definitely be back - still fun even though the history hasn't changed between visits!
