Two senior citizens, two adults, two teen-agers. Did you enjoy the Champagne Jazz Brunch? I'll say! We were welcomed aboard when a glass of champagne or sparkling cider was placed in our hands. We were shown to our cloth-draped table with its gleaming plates. Through the large picture windows we could watch planes landing at Lindbergh Field. There was soft jazz being broadcast from the duo on the upper deck. The buffet was open! Mac and cheese; O'Brien potatoes. Sausage! Eggs! Shrimp! Roast Beef! Belgian Waffles! Whipped Cream! The spacious dining room did not feel crowded. Our friendly servers keep us in champagne, cider, coffee and tea.
And the views of our beloved San Diego just kept slowly passing by. Some birthdays were celebrated. Some babes in arms were in the mix. Our time seemed to go slowly and pleasantly on a July Saturday afternoon.
While the cost of the Champagne Brunch Cruise is almost double what a land-based champagne buffet would cost, the vessel itself, the service, the food and the location in San Diego Bay make it a well-worth-it choice when family or friends are here for a visit.
One reminder: Parking along the waterfront is limited (meters, lots.) Some people were dropped off, others arrived early enough (11 a.m. boarding) to secure parking.
