What To Expect
1
Old Town Temecula
This first stop allows time to explore the rustic streets lined with unique shops, specialty food purveyors, galleries, tasting rooms, and antique stores. Peruse for gifts, sample gourmet delicacies, and soak in the quaint setting. Founded in the mid 1800’s, Temecula’s western history is showcased along the rustic streets, with numerous shops housed in original buildings. A popular Saturday morning Farmer's Market is always a favorite of participants.
2
Frangipani Estate Winery
Departing for wine country, the tour follows a scenic route along the De Portola Wine Trail as our engaging Destination Temecula guide shares fun information about the culture of wine tasting, the historical significance of the valley, and the reasons grape cultivation flourishes in the Temecula Valley appellation. Indulge in a relaxing, fun, informative afternoon visiting three unique and breathtaking wineries, interacting with knowledgeable pouring staff, and often engaging with the wine maker and/or winery owner. Sample anywhere from 15-20 different wines throughout the day. A delicious, individually served upscale picnic lunch is enjoyed at this first winery stop. Savor the beautiful valley view before you with Mount Palomar on the horizon as you sample wines, enjoy your lunch, and engage in stimulating conversation with your tour mates, many who often become new best friends by the end of the day!
3
Wilson Creek Winery
It is then off to the next winery, Wilson Creek, where you can join our guide for a fascinating private behind-the-scenes vineyard and production area tour conducted just for our guests, whom often find themselves chatting on the crush pad or in the production area with the winemaker. Play your cards right and you might sample a tasting from the tanks!
4
Temecula
Finish the afternoon at a third Temecula Winery. During this last stop, participants enjoy a "casual" tasting on their own, with ample time provided to sample wine, make purchases, explore the fabulous grounds, take pictures and marvel at the breathtaking scenery.
5
San Diego Convention Center
The fun filled day of wine tasting and exploration finishes in the luxury of reclining seats and air conditioning arriving back in San Diego around 7 pm with drop off at each guest’s respective hotel.

Our guide, Steven, was very knowledgeable about a variety of topics (e.g., wine, fauna, trivial info re: Topgun, food, etc.). He shared a ton of valuable information and he knew when to stop talking and let us do our own thing. Our first stop was old town Temecula, where he let us explore the town. Our tour mates were all hungover beyond reason, so their energy was a downer, so we wanted to get away from them. Thankfully, Steven told us about a cute tasting room in old town---Lorimar---AND he gave us a coupon for "two for one tasting". We sprinted there and had the best wines of the day! The server was a cool guy as well and he gave us some tastes from the reserve list as well as tips on some other wineries to check out at a later time. Our first official winery stop on the tour was Callaway where we had a light lunch. The weather was gorgeous and the wines here were also delightful. The staff was working double time when we were there. They were super busy. The venue had a beautiful view across the rolling hills as well as within their own cute vines. Again, Steven pointed out the "secret path" for me and my friend to get down into the vines and onto a little patio under a tree. We took some great pics there. Our next winery was an expansive master piece, Wilson Creek. This venue had the most beautiful grounds I've ever seen. Our server, Jeron, was exactly the right amount attentive and informative. He was super nice and even gave us some packing material to assist with getting bottles home safe in our suitcases (not bottles from W.C.). Sadly, we weren't fans of the wine. The last winery we attended was Frangipani Estates. This place was also lovely; industrial look with endless views of vines. We enjoyed all the wines we had here and bought a bottle (Rose) for the hour long drive back to San Diego. Thankfully, our tour mates managed to light their fuses again and we had a fun drive home with them. Steven handled them (and us) so perfectly. He really has a talent for this line of work (and he used to be a professional photographer, so definitely take advantage of that talent as we did). We also met Dave (the owner & other tour guide) and he seemed equally competent and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour.

Very kind of you to take the time to share your experiences with others Ang723. Your comments are greatly appreciated by Stephen and the entire Destination Temecula team. For both your reference, and the benefit of others who may take heed of your perceptions, the initial stop in wine country was actually at Frangipani Estate Winery. Callaway Vineyards and Winery was the last stop of the day. We really appreciate you being on board, and would love to have you join us when visiting Southern California again in the future. Cheers!

Our group had an excellent experience on the Guided Temecula Wine Tour from San Diego. The company was very responsive/accommodating to arranging hotel pick up and drop off, as well as dietary needs for the included lunch about 48 hours before the trip. The Van was very comfortable, and Dave (Tour Host) was very knowledgeable of the region and had some great jokes/games to get all tour participants to get to know one another. We stopped in Old town Temecula for the first hour of the tour for shopping and sight seeing, then proceeded onto the three wineries, with six samples at each. It was an excellent activity for our bachelorette group, but the couples and solo-travelers also had a wonderful time. On the way back, we discussed absolutely booking this tour again if we vacation in the region again. Thank you for a wonderful time!

On May 19th, I took the Guided Temecula Wine Tour. Dave (our tour guide and host) picked me up at my hotel and kept a running commentary/conversation throughout the trip. We stopped at 3 wineries and sampled the wares--quite good for some vintages--and generally had a good time. My fellow tour-mates were really nice and interesting people who enjoyed the trip as much as I. I would take this tour again and I highly recommend it!
