What To Expect
1
Ferry Building Marketplace
This spectacularly designed day in San Francisco starts near the architecturally pristine Ferry Building, once the busiest port in the world. Wander through and see San Francisco's original port with views of Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge (Yep, that bridge that fell in the 1989 earthquake!).
2
California Street
It's from our favorite "in-the-know" stop we'll skip the massive lines and board the iconic San Francisco Cable Car without any of the crowds. As this moving piece of history climbs one of the many hills of San Francisco, the storefronts in the Financial District fade and the opulent homes of Nob Hill begin to appear.
3
Nob Hill
At the top of Nob Hill learn about the industrial tycoons who helped fund the early city.
4
Grace Cathedral
Wander into Grace Cathedral with its striking Gothic interior and gem of artistic artifacts including a bevy of stained glass windows.
5
Chinatown
Heading back down the hill, it's on to bustling, culturally-soaked Chinatown. As the largest Chinese enclave outside of Asia and the oldest in North America, your personal local will weave you through the most vibrant spaces and lesser-known sites. Take in the small Tin How Temple and peek into a traditional Eastern pharmacy to see the various herbs and medicinal powders.
6
Golden Gate Fortune Cookies Co
Stop by the legendary Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory for insight into the art of fortune cookie making! Not only will you be able to try warm cookies just off the machine, but you will also take home a personalized treat just for you!
7
North Beach
After the lunch break, journey through the years of the counterculture movement - the 1960s, when Beat poets like Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac mingled with the little Italian grandmothers on the streets of North Beach. Following a deep dive into the cityā€™s artistic roots on Jack Kerouac Alley, move up Columbus Avenue - the main strip through the thriving neighborhood.
8
Coit Tower
Your guide will uncover more of the hidden gems the lie beneath the usual hotspots including the interesting story as to why this famed San Francisco landmark was built - at the request of a very eccentric character in our city's history.
9
Lombard Street
Further north, climb two blocks to "The Crookedest Street in the World", San Francisco's famed Lombard Street to see the 8 turns in one city block framed by blooming hydrangeas. Let your guide snap a photo we hope makes it to your holiday card!
10
Ghirardelli Square
Head into the chocolate empire of Ghirardelli Square. Pause to savor a piece of chocolate (complimentary, of course), then wander on down to Fisherman's Wharf.
11
Fisherman's Wharf
It may be one of the cityā€™s busiest tourist areas, but your guide will show you how to navigate the popular area before heading to Pier 39 to meet the real stars of the city: San Franciscoā€™s resident sea lions.
12
Pier 39
Navigate down the Pier to a special spot to view the famed San Francisco sea lions, some of our most prized visitors-turned-locals.
13
Golden Gate Bridge
Youā€™ll round out the afternoon with a cruise across the bay, taking in some of the cityā€™s best sights from the sea. Your boat sails along the waterfront past the Marina District, on to the Presidio, and travels under the Golden Gate Bridge.
14
Alcatraz Island
A loop of Alcatraz Island is a welcome addition to the hour-long jaunt - the closest you can get to it without Alcatraz tickets.

Maggie was fabulous! Great conversationalist, flexible (our lunch went late, and she was so good at adjusting our afternoon part of the tour ensuring we got to see what was most important to us, and still getting us to the docks for our boat ride on time). She is knowledgeable, and engaging, and even got us all a small gift from our trip to china town. We had a group of 5 (myself and my grandmother, and three others from Germany). 4 folks didn't show up, but Maggie handled it like a pro and Walks customer service handled it from there. Great sights, and several different types of experiences.

Christopher was very knowledgeable. He gave a lot of insight into the history of the city . We were able to see things we wouldā€™ve missed if we toured the city on our own.

If youā€™re wondering which SF tour to do this is the one! Itā€™s wayy better than being in a bus all day, so you feel like youā€™re really immersed in the city. Our tour guide Christopher was wonderful and has a wealth of knowledge about SF. Itā€™s a walking tour but we never felt tired or behind from the group. Definitely recommend!
