San Francisco walking tasting tour with Secret Food Tours

Overview
On our Secret Food Tour: San Francisco, the Mission District, you'll see how immigrants shaped the neighborhood by creating brilliant artwork, beautiful architecture and sharing their fantastic food! Originally home to Irish, German, and Italian immigrants, it is now the epicenter of San Francisco's Latino culture.

The Mission District is full of vibrant murals that offer a visual history lesson featuring themes ranging from cultural heritage to social-political statements. We will take a stroll through the neighborhood to get an up-close experience.

Our tours are more than just the food. Our local guides connect the dots between history, culture, and cuisine to provide you with a deep understanding of the Mission District's thriving culinary scene!

I had done a Secret Food Tour in Chicago and enjoyed it so much that I convinced my friends to do one when we were in San Francisco together, and it did not disappoint! Mateo, our tour guide, grew up in the Mission and provided great anecdotes about the neighborhood throughout the tour. We loved the murals and all the food was delicious, particularly the burrito and the amazing dessert at the end. Highly recommend Secret Food Tours for anyone looking for something different and a little off the beaten path (and it saves you from buying lunch that day!).

We had a lovely tour guide Angie Mah who showed us the culinary delights of the Mission District. Although, we have been to San Francisco before we have never visited this area. My personal favourite was the burrito and ice cream but all was fantastic. Angie added to our experience as she had a detailed local knowledge of the area. I would suggest doing your homework as to where the tour starts as Mission Street is a very long road............ and we were very nearly late.

This was the highlight of our trip to San Fran. Our guide David ensured our experience was a memorable one. He knew his stuff and was very good at mixing with the group. The food stops were all fabulous and as with other Secret Food Tours you go into shops that you would otherwise walk straight past. This was a fun way to learn more about the Mission District, enjoying some great food along the way. Definitely add this to your list of things to do on a visit to San Fran.
