Overview

With 30 years of teaching experience, a NM Level 2 Art Teaching license, 10 years of experience as the founder and executive director of the Tarnoff Art Center(a 501c3) based here in the Santa fe area, and the current co-owner of Artful Soul Creative Experiences in Downtown Santa Fe, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her classes. As she is dedicated to guiding students on their artistic journey . Laura graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where she underwent a rigorous academic art education. Her disciplined training included studying the human figure and mastering various traditional art mediums such as pastels, oil painting, watercolors, pen and ink, and much more. Laura's own artwork is a testament to her vibrant and painterly style, ranging from tight realism to wild non-objective abstractions. Known for her "Figurative Abstractions," Laura infuses her work with emotionally charged colors, figurative distortions, and expressive brushstrokes.

My friend and I wanted to try something new and tap into our creative sides. This was the perfect way to do that! Whether you are a a complete beginner or have some experience, it will be fun. Laura is very patient and knowledgeable. She breaks the painting down into manageable steps and teaches some cool techniques. I learned a lot and left with a piece that I genuinely love 🖼️ 💜

My teacher was Laura. This little shop is nestled in the old Santa Fe Market building. Designed by hippies in the 1960, the shop is full of color and life. Laura is such a talented teacher. She knows how to organize classes so even if you do not think of yourself as an artist, you will create something beautiful. She makes suggestions, but accepts you may not take them. She is a MASTER ART TEACHER! I learned so much. Thank you Laura!
