Santa Fe Railyard Farmers Market Food Tour

Overview
Skip the long lines and dive into the bold, smoky, and complex flavors of traditional New Mexican cuisine with a chef-guided lunch at La Choza—the beloved sister restaurant of The Shed. Starting in the Santa Fe Railyard, we’ll take a scenic stroll along the historic Rail Trail before settling in for an exclusive, three-course meal at this local favorite, renowned for its award-winning red and green chile.

Led by a culinary expert, this immersive lunch explores the origins and evolution of New Mexico’s distinct cuisine, with a comparative tasting that highlights the key differences between Mexican and New Mexican flavors. To elevate the experience, we’ll celebrate Santa Fe’s status as the Margarita Capital of America with a top-shelf margarita pairing for each course, showcasing different styles and expressions of this iconic cocktail.

After indulging in a feast of local flavors, we’ll finish on a sweet note with a locally inspired dessert at Santa Fe’s premier craft ice creamery

This was really one of my most favorite food tours ever. Jackie was awesome and was very knowledgable about the area and the restaurants we visited. What I liked the best about this tour and what set it apart from other tours is that the owner/chef's at the restaurants visited with us and spent time with us. We could have sat with the owner at La Choza all day. She was such a neat person. Mark, the owner/chef at State Capital was a delight so much that we went back for dinner. It was plenty food, not so much that we were stuffed, and lots of drink. Highly recommend.

Hi, Thanks for the glowing feedback! It makes us so happy to hear this was one of your most favorite food tours ever :) Jackie is a fantastic so I'm glad to hear you agree. I'm also glad to hear you enjoyed the chance to visit with the owner of La Choza and the chef at State Capital Kitchen. It's our philosophy that a dish really comes to life when the person behind the dish is there to explain it, where it came from and what influences went into it. Sarah at La Choza does a fantastic job of that, and we're very fortunate that Mark at State Capital Kitchen privately entertains our groups before the restaurant is open to the public. Safe travels and we hope to see you back in Santa Fe again soon! Cheers, Joe

What a great, fun, friendly, relaxed food and walking tour! Jackie was delightful, and took us to some off-the-beaten path places in the Railyard district. We learned a lot, drank, and ate great food. Don't eat much before the tour, and get ready to enjoy beer, wine, margarita, and spirits.

This tour was truly an unexpected delight. We were treated like VIPs by owners of really special establishments who took their personal time to explain the history of their place, or how dishes were made, or how a tiny change in the distillation process changes your favorite whiskey. Samples included. Joe is a great tour guide and he conceived and created this tour so he's very much a part of it. Don't miss it.
