Sarasota Guided Mangrove Tunnel Kayak Tour

Overview
There is a reason that the Mangrove Tunnels of Lido Key are a must-do experience when visiting the Gulf Coast. We launch from Ted Sperling Nature Park (190 Taft Dr Sarasota FL) which has clean restrooms, a rinsing shower, and shaded picnic tables. Our amazing local guides from Sea Life Kayak Adventures take you on a tour of Little Sarasota Bay, where you may see manatees, dolphins, a variety of birds and sea life...then finish up in the famous mangrove tunnels, a beautiful canopy that meanders thru an island. The tour usually goes around 2 hours, but we aren't on a strict schedule, so please allow for an extra half hour. We are located just minutes from downtown Sarasota, 20 minutes from Siesta Key, and a half hour from Anna Maria Island and Bradenton (add time for traffic during high season. We meet a HALF HOUR before our tours)

Our guide, Ian made this excursion so fun and interesting! Loved his Irish accent and his knowledge of the different water species. We saw dolphins splashing and showing off very close to our kayaks. The 2 hour timeframe was just perfect and we felt we experienced a great mix of open waters and mangrove tunnels. Just about anyone can do this! Hint: Bring a towel for the drive home. Your seat will probably be wet! Thanks again for a fantastic experience!

We went out the first day they were providing service following hurricane Ian. The first and perhaps most remarkable fact was that volunteers had gone out and cleaned up the mangrove tunnels the day before. Kudos to the volunteers. Obviously the wildlife had been significantly affected by the storm. Nonetheless, our guide Bo, did a wonderful job of displaying and discussing the wildlife that was visible in the area along with a nice history lesson of Sarasota Bay. He also helped us sometimes in the mangroves by pulling our kayaks along after he gotten out of his own. Overall, I would say that it was two hours wonderfully spent.
