Overview

Walk, talk and taste your way through historic Charleston South Carolina. This small-group 2.5-hour tour will immerse you in the history and culture of the Lowcountry and allow you to experience a remarkable culinary scene in downtown Charleston. Stops along the way will include many of the city’s leading restaurants through out the city. Typical tastings include: stone ground grits, Southern pralines, sweet tea, collard greens, Lowcountry barbeque, and fried green tomatoes.

Charleston City Market

Built in the early 1800's, this four block historical landmark was originally the city's grocery store. Today, the City Market is home to a variety of local vendors that sell their art, crafts, and local wares.

This was an option we decided to try as a result of all the actual cooking classes being booked. I'm glad we did. We picked an afternoon class and had Faith as our walking tour guide. There were two other couples with us, so it made it very informal and fun. Faith was extremely well read and knowledgeable of both the culinary history and Charleston. This was our second trip to Charleston, and we learned more from this two-and-a-half-hour tour of the foods and food history than if we had spent hours reading about it. The restaurants were well chosen and top notch. The servings were appropriate and delicious. We met our tour guide again the following day at Hyman's conducting another walking tour. When we return again and I'm sure we will. We'll sign up for one of the other titles by Bulldog tours it was well worth it.
