We honestly had an awful experience. We went specifically for the mermaids. The event was extremely poorly organized, line after line after line only to see the mermaid for less than one minute before being rushed out of that room. My toddler was heart broken. There were so many people the tanks were fogging up. It’s a very weird aquarium setup that forces you through in one direction (think: ikea style). They have a ridiculous amount of fake rock wall to assist in the flow they want you to go. The weird rock wall blocks 90% of the aquarium glass so you have a very small window to view through. These windows are then packed by kids (not being watched by parents, hitting the glass etc). The animals are in very small tanks, I witness several attack each other and the octopus was visibly really stressed. No one who has been to any credible aquarium would rate this one highly. iPads at the end??? I was wanting to take my kid to an interactive exhibit, not shove even more electronics in her face. Pathetic at best. Do yourself, your kids, and the animals a favor and avoid this aquarium.

I recently moved back to KC and have been wanting to go sea life ever since. I heard they were doing the mermaid event so I took my two nieces and headed on down. When we got there it felt like the AC wasn’t on at all. We pushed through the aquarium and found a spot where a worker told us that the mermaid would be and she said it would take place there in 20 minutes. So we waited by the glass. This is easier said than done with two little girls who are super excited and it being 100 degrees. When that time passed the woman tells us we have to go get in line. Which I would’ve done originally if she would’ve told me. Either way I went down, and meet a crowd of people. I went to the end of the line that was forever long into a crowed room full of people. People where cutting others and yelling at other parents, it was a total and utter mess. There were NO employees directing people or letting people know what to do or where to go. When we finally get to see the mermaid they are just rushed us through, saying that other people where waiting. It was a complete waste of time and could have been put together much much better. Or just turn on the Air so people can be comfortable when they wait. I spent my time in line carrying my nieces and trying to convince them that it was going to be worth it and that we should go home as they kept saying they wanted to do.

Thank you for your feedback and I do apologize for the experience you had during our Mermaid event. It was the first time we have run such an event and we did not expect it to be anywhere near as popular as it was. While a lot of people really enjoyed themselves, there are certainly ways we can improve and I would really appreciate being able to speak with you further to find out more about your experience, how it can be put together better in future and how I can make it up to you and your family. Please feel free to reach out to [email protected] Many thanks, Ed

It takes little to no time to walk through the exhibit. There is absolutely no kind of interaction for the price that you pay. I took my 3 yearvold daughter last weekend instead of zoo & I dont think we will be back. Neat fish but not worth the price.

Thanks for your feedback. We are actually in the process of rolling out a new creature meet and great experience alongside our touchpool.
