Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge
The Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge is a manatee sanctuary nestled in the heart of Florida's Nature Coast. Spanning over 80 acres, this refuge is a haven for an array of wildlife, offering visitors a captivating glimpse into the region's natural wonders. One of the refuge's most enchanting features is its resident population of West Indian manatees. These gentle giants, often referred to as "sea cows," seek refuge in the warm spring waters of Crystal River during the winter months, making it one of the premier destinations for manatee viewing in the United States. A resident herd of 40-60 manatees make the refige home year round. Beyond the manatees, the refuge is home to a diverse array of bird species, including herons, egrets, ospreys, and bald eagles. Birdwatchers will delight in the opportunity to spot these majestic creatures as they soar overhead or wade through the shallows in search of food. Join us on a boat safari into this amazing preserve and see for yourself.

Manatee Jackpot!! 50!! WOW!! yes the bay gets very crowded this time of the year! Its manatee season! We do try to stay away from crowds but sometimes that is not possible depending on where the manatees are! We try to show all angles of the bay! We are so glad you guys had a good time and hope to see you again in the future!

Manatee River Cruise Review I recently took a river cruise to see manatees, and it was an unforgettable experience! The boat was comfortable, and the captain and crew were incredibly knowledgeable about the local wildlife and ecosystem. As we cruised along the peaceful river, we spotted several manatees gliding through the water, occasionally surfacing for air. The guide provided fascinating information about these gentle giants, their behaviors, and the conservation efforts to protect them. We also saw a variety of birds, fish, and even a few turtles along the way. The pace of the cruise was perfect—relaxing yet engaging, with plenty of opportunities to take photos and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Whether you’re a nature lover, a wildlife enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful escape, this river cruise is a fantastic way to experience manatees up close. I highly recommend it for families, couples, or solo travelers looking for a unique and serene adventure on the water!
