What To Expect
1
Kancamagus Highway
As the audio guides play commentary based on your gps location, you can create your own itinerary along the tour route to match your interests and schedule.
2
Albany Covered Bridge
New England is famous for its covered wooden bridges, and the Albany Covered Bridge is one of the most photographed in New Hampshire. Originally built in 1858, this 120-foot-long covered bridge spans the Swift River and is still open to vehicles as long as they don’t exceed a height of 7’9”. Together with the Russell-Colbath House, these structures are the only preserved remains from the era when farming was first established in the region.
3
Lower Falls
At Lower Falls, the Swift River cascades over smooth granite rocks into welcoming pools. It’s an ideal place to sunbathe and swim on warm summer days.
4
Rocky Gorge Scenic Area
Carved by ancient glaciers, Rocky Gorge is a narrow gorge with powerful water rushing through it. The gorge is just a quick jaunt from the parking area, and a foot bridge takes you across the Swift River where you can stand directly above the gorge for excellent viewing and photo opportunities.
5
Sabbaday Falls
Sabbaday Falls is the most popular hike along the Kancamagus Highway. This multi-tiered waterfall spills through a narrow gorge into emerald-colored pools. It’s a very picturesque spot, and well worth the 15-minute hike to the falls.

My partner wanted to see New England in the fall. In my research I found the audio tour of the Kancamagus Highway. It was really nice not only learning about the history of the area, but also getting “heads up” about what was ahead of us. Very enjoyable!
