What To Expect
1
Chinatown Gate
The Chinatown Gates are the entrance to Portland’s Old Chinatown. These gates were built in Taiwan as a gesture of goodwill from the Chinese community and then shipped to Portland where they were presented to the city in 1986.
2
Portland Oregon Sign
Since its installation, the sign has changed quite often, depending on who owned the building at the time. If you saw the sign in 1950, it read “White Satin Sugar" and was animated to show the state filling with sugar.
3
Skidmore Fountain
The Skidmore Fountain was named after Stephen G. Skidmore, a wealthy druggist who bequeathed $5,000 for a fountain to provide drinking water for humans, horses, and dogs, not necessarily in that order. It’s Portland's oldest piece of public art.
4
Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub
The Kells Irish Pub has been serving food and drink since 1983 and while it has not been here very long the building it’s housed in has stood for over a century and Kells has been named one of the most haunted places in Oregon.

The app worked well and the stories were interesting, however the areas in which this tour takes people definitely appear to be unsafe. Drug deals on corners, homeless shanties etc were all passed on the way to another site.

Thank you for the update! When we made this tour, we did not have issues, and we have heard that the City is clearing out the homeless encampments in Old Town. But this is a great note for anyone in or going to Portland, they have a very serious homeless crisis at the moment and many areas of the city have people sleeping on the streets, and some are drug users. Please do be careful, this is a big city and in any city, there are potential dangers. I would suggest only going to Old Town during day light hours. Thank you for the review!

The walk n tour app continued to glitch the entire tour. It would buffer, skip over certain sections, automatically play despite being paused second prior- just awful. The tour was fine, random selection of sites, maybe it would’ve been more enjoyable if the app wasn’t a absolute nightmare to use

If you could email me at [email protected] I'll look into this. There is a chance you did not turn on the location settings. Since this is a GPS guided tour, we do need your location to guide you. If you do shut that off, then the app will ask for it in order to guide you. To note, I have not heard of this issue. And many took this same tour the same day you did.
