We had a great time kayaking the canals of Fort Lauderdale on a Sunday morning in February 2018 with Blue Moon. On our urban-eco tour, we were led by Colleen, who was assisted by Ronnie. Both ladies are clearly passionate and knowledgeable about both the local area, and kayaking itself. We learned a great deal about the geography and history of the area from Colleen as we paddled by the stunning canal-front homes. Meanwhile, we learned all about the local iguana population (we saw many) and interesting facts about surrounding flora from Ronnie. While we were given the option of sharing a dual kayak, we decided to take one each. Other pairs in the group shared, 2 to a kayak. The trip lasted about 2 and a half hours, including a brief stop to get out and stretch. Cold drinks were also handed out at one point. While it was tiring, it was definitely worth it, and a great work out! According to Colleen, we set a pretty good pace that day, but it is not about speed or endurance at all, but rather taking in all the scenery and learning. The guides will go at your pace and if you get tired or have had enough just let them know - they are experts. We hope to be back to paddle some more...it seems that there are endless waterways to explore in South Florida!
