Sitting atop what was once a cemetery, this former cooperage operated as a speakeasy and brothel during Prohibition under the ownership of the legendary Capone brothers. In the 1990's, It was an occasional haunt of infamous serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer.

Shakers Cigar Bar

Voted one of the FIVE most haunted bars in the entire nation, Shakers Original Ghost Tour lets you take an uneasy glimpse into the establishment's sordid past. This tour takes you through every floor of our historical establishment - our main floor, the cellar basement, and the two upper floors. Once home to a cemetery, speakeasy, and brothel, Shaker's walls DO talk - and the tales they tell aren't always pretty. - 60 minutes. Indoors. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before tour start time.

Very smoky. We didn't realize that this was a bar where smoking was permitted everywhere. While on the tour, we we're standing near at least one cigar smoker. While I'm accustomed to it, my daughter wasn't. The tour was nice, historical and informative.

First off, Shakers is great. Old time feeling cigar bar. Great smells, great drinks. Kirsten was our guide who had great stories and presented a very interesting history of Milwaukee I did not know. The stories of the brothel, and how it worked was very interesting. Unfortunately we did not experience any shadow figures or the shadow cat, nor did we sense any spirits. However, one of the people in our group became overcome with emotion while on the top floor. So that was interesting. Definitely will go back to Shakers for a cigar, a drink and hopefully some other spirits.
