Sharing Nature with Children

Overview
Spend an afternoon reconnecting with Mother Nature through fun games designed to awake enthusiasm, focus attention and create conditions conducive to deeper insights. We will get our hands dirty playing in the earth, exploring creeks while looking for salamanders, tasting nature's foods and soaking up the fresh air and sounds of the woods. This course is the cure for Nature Deficit Disorder. Be aware, part of the fun is getting muddy and wet!

Ms. Debbie was great! Made our hike fun for us and our little guy, and made it work despite the area being a little flooded from the recent rain. Great time in the outdoors!

So happy we booked with a Walk in the Woods, we had a wonderful time! Our tour guide, Dylan, was extremely knowledgable, informative, had a great interaction with both kids and adults, was very patient (we faced unusual heavy traffic on our way to the meeting point and were extremely late), and brought us to a trail we would have never been able to find on our own. The kids got to eat plants and leafs, and still talk about the trees they learned about! This was by far my favourite activity from our Fall Break week in the Smokey Mountains and I thank Dylan and the Walk in the Woods group for that. We will definitely be back, and request Dylan as our guide!

We did a "children's hike" with A walk in the woods. It was initially sold out and I had given up hope that I didn't book far enough in advance (apparently October is peak season at Smoky Mountains) but it is helpful to email the company and they put me on a "wait list" then I got off the waitlist. When I showed up we were the only family on the tour and it was essentially a private tour with a retired park ranger. Miss Debbie was great and incredibly knowledgeable about the trees and wild life. My son (6yrs old) was incredibly engaged during the tour and it was for sure the highlight of our visit to the area.
