Skunk Train: Pudding Creek Express from Fort Bragg

Overview
This relaxed and scenic 7-mile roundtrip journey departs the Depot in downtown Fort Bragg year-round, traveling along the beautiful Pudding Creek Estuary and passing into primeval ancient redwoods to the tranquil setting of Glen Blair Junction.

Trains will stop at Glen Blair Junction for 15 minutes, allowing you to get off and stretch your legs and explore. Or, if you’d like to spend more time walking our trails amongst the redwoods, you can remain and catch the next train (roughly two hours later). Plenty of time to explore. Feel free to bring a packed lunch (no alcohol, please) to enjoy at one of our picnic tables.

These were some of the first tracks ever laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885, and we've been carrying passengers on them ever since.

The train is an engine, two passenger cars, and a flat bed car that takes you on the old route up the mountains where logging was done. The train takes you up the mountain to a stopping point where you can wander around for 20-30 minutes and then catch the train back to Fort Bragg. The views are spectacular! There are so many beautiful redwoods and sometimes the tree canopy is thick enough to block the sun. The flatbed car does have rails :) and you can get the full immersive experience by standing there during the trip. The scenery was fantastic. We remembered that the trip used to go a lot farther and, if you wanted, it would travel all the way to Willits. It doesn't do that anymore. The entire round trip is 1.5 hours including the stop for wandering around. You can stay at the midpoint and wait for the next train to return if you aren't the last trip of the day.

Skunk Train Pudding Creek Express is a Must do while visiting Fort Bragg area. The trip is most beautiful ride through the RedWoods. You simply cannot experience this any part of the country. Some people reviewed suggested it was too short.I totally disagree. It was perfect length and price point was most fair. I Cant wait to go back and ried the Skunk Express again!

Beautiful trip. Staff was very friendly. Model Railroad was really cool too. It is a little short. Years ago I rode it all the way from Willits and that was better. It will be fantastic when they get the tunnel open again.
