Both locations were amazing. We especially loved spectacular Antelope Canyon. Godās handiwork is on full display. Thank you to Gabriel who took beautiful pictures of us and who was so helpful in getting me back up the stairs.
That said, maybe I missed something in the description of the tour, or itās just understood, but I thought the trails were difficult. In all fairness, Iām 71 years old and am not in the best physical condition but I do get around just fine. Coupled with the heat and the altitude, there were some times I had to stop and catch my breath and needed some help finishing to the top of the stairs.
The ride in the tour bus wasnāt that pleasant either. The air conditioning didnāt work well, it was noisy and felt like the driver hit every bump in the road coming and going. One of the reasons we like to take tours is so we can learn more about the area but our driver gave us a 30-minute talk on the active volcanoes and then put a tape in of local music. It was fine, tho, because we couldnāt hear her in the back of the van anyway. Itās a long drive from Flagstaff.
I would highly recommend seeing Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon. Iām thankful we did the trip but had I known how strenuous it would be, we might have looked for a different way to go.
