Small-Group Clear Kayak Tour in Shell Key

Overview
We've created a fascinating kayak tour in St Pete, centered on our Crystal Clear kayaks, giving you a fascinating look at the sea life throughout Shell Key preserve, and Fort Desoto park. Our professional guides provide an interesting narration of the local wildlife and ecosystem. The tours can range from 2 persons to 16 people, and are approximately 2 to 2 -1/2  hours long.  The tours will primarily operate in the protected waters and mangroves tunnels of the Shell Key Wildlife Preserve in Pinellas County. An 1,800 acre preserve, these waters are well traveled by Dolphins, Manatees, Rays, as well as a variety of shore birds, including pelicans, egrets, herons, cormorants, osprey, and sometimes roseate spoonbills.

Justin and Kristen were wonderful guides. They had found some tunnels in the mangroves that were beautiful. Imagine kayaking in the hot sun and then gliding into a cool, shaded tunnel of trees. It was beautiful and peaceful. Then we went to a small beach on Shell Key. We did some shelling and swimming before setting off on the return trip. On our way back, some cormorants dove under our see-through kayaks. I would absolutely do this again. Good for all ages. Thank you, Justin and Kristen for a fun and entertaining paddle.

The day of our trip, we got to the dock and discovered that the trip had been canceled because of waves. We did not receive a phone call the night before, but the greeter at the dock arranged for us to go on the boat with another group and refunded the difference to us on that day. It was a good trip--we did see dolphins but were disappointed not to get to kayak (which was not the company's fault).

We're a bit disappointed in your review Marianne. We didn't call you the night before because the winds were supposed to be mild that day. Maybe you've never experienced a time when the weather was not what was forecast. We don't control the weather, and we're at the mercy of inaccurate forecasts. You yourself did acknowledge that it was not our fault. We did indeed accommodate you onto one of our semi-private boat ecotours. You saw dolphins, collected seashells, and said yourself you had a nice trip. But because we kept you away from the rough seas you penalized our company. Disappointing.

We had a wonderful time! Our tour guide was Justin D, and he was great! He made sure everyone was comfortable in the kayaks (all equipment was provided) and took us on a beautiful tour of the mangroves and shell key.
