I lived in the Keys for one summer teaching Fl Keys ecology to grade-HS students. Captain Russ was accurate and good at finding wildlife. He had a good sense of humor and had my 9 year old giggling quite a few times. Unbeknownst to Captain Russ, he really cut deep when he started talking about gutting and eating sharks to my extreme shark loving kiddo (who started crying). Part of me thinks this is a lifestyle thing but I also think for a tour labeled āecoā this could probably be omitted. Also, we sat at the rear of the boat and Captain Russ is quite a chain smoker. Although it mostly was carried away by being on a boat, my preference is certainly to not have smoking on an eco tour. My family had a fun time, we saw sharks and manatees and nesting green heron and a dash of pirates, local history and celeb talk. The boat is small, making it quite enjoyable and semi-private. I think the price is well suited for the excursion and would recommend it to friends.
