What To Expect
1
Route 66
After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
2
Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.
3
Grand Canyon National Park
Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking.

I read reviews in advance of this trip, and glad I did. I wasn't surprised that my flight was shortened to 30 minutes due to weather, and that was okay. It's still breath taking. I bought the video, but managed to take great IG worthy videos to post before getting back that day. I also knew that there were minimal plans around food, so I planned with packed snacks. I was surprised we weren't given more verbal instruction around how and when to look for food, or warnings about how long between things. I also didn't realize that by being a heli flyer, the rest of my group would head to the canyon before me, and have more opportuntiy to stand in lines to get into the buildings. Being this trip is in March of 2021, some restrictions seem to continue to impact capcity. There were long lines to get into every building, even for a restroom. It was a cold windy day, and by the time I returned to my group on the rim, I had 45 minutes to see the view, use a bathroom, and find a late lunch. It didn't work out, and "lunch" became an under supplied gas station an hour after leaving the canyon. Still, overall, great trip. Mostly because I anticipated some hang ups, and was okay with managing them. But pack a full lunch if you're flying.
