What To Expect
1
Route 66
After departing the Phoenix metro area, our tour travels through the expansive Sonoran Desert filled with the native saguaro cactus. The scenery begins to change as we increase in elevation and views of the cactus fade into pine trees. As we continue further into Northern Arizona, we will travel the outskirts of the Route 66 town of Flagstaff and from the highway, see the San Francisco Peaks among the seemingly endless Ponderosa Pine Forest, the largest contiguous forest of ponderosa pines in the world.
2
Williams Depot
Williams will be our first stop along the tour for a chance to experience Route 66, the iconic American highway steeped in rich tradition. While in Williams, guests will have the opportunity to “get their kicks on Route 66” with walks along the original route, explore the local shops and capture souvenir photos highlighting a bygone era in classic American history. Also known as the Will Rodgers Highway, Route 66 is the most recognizable road in the United States and stretched 2,448 miles from Chicago to California upon completion.
3
Grand Canyon National Park
Just before entering the Grand Canyon National Park, you will be checked in for your 45 minute helicopter flight, spanning over 90 miles of the Grand Canyon. After your flight, your guide will bring you back into the National Park to discover more by foot. You will have opportunities to walk the rim, shop, capture an unlimited number of photographs, or relax with the best seat in the house. Your total time at Grand Canyon including the helicopter and walking is approximately 3 hours, with approximately 1-1.5 hours on the rim walking.

This was our first time visiting the Grand Canyon, and it was an amazing experience thanks to our guide, Jon Q. A very nice and pleasant man, he was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he was doing. He frequently made sure we were comfortable throughout the trip and ensured we were learning everything about the Grand Canyon and the surrounding area. The helicopter tour - arranged with Maverick Helicopter Tours through DETOURS - was the icing on the cake. An excellent way to explore the Grand Canyon when you’re on a tight schedule. Thank you Jon Q for being such a great guide. You are the best!

Thank you for joining us for a tour to the Grand Canyon. It was our pleasure to have you with us. We’re thrilled to hear that Jon was able to make your day extra special by not only handling all the logistics and driving, but also by providing knowledge about what you were seeing, and of course taking you to the most beautiful view points. Regarding the add-on helicopter tour that you enjoyed, we agree that the birds-eye-view is an amazing vantage point from which to take in the Grand Canyon.

Who would have thought that in late May it would snow at the canyon. My helicopter tour was grounded due to fog rain and strong winds. Part of me was relieved but I really wanted the experience. I suppose Mother Nature has no boundaries. Our guide Bruce made a gallant effort to find a break in the weather so we could see the sights. We pushed east and as we drive the fog lifted and the clouds parted. It was a great day.

Given that, we’re thrilled to have showed you the best way to experience the unique take on the Canyon, which is when it’s snowing. You probably saw it snow UPWARDS, which is really a once in a lifetime thing to see. All in all we glad you enjoyed the service that Bruce provided, as your guide, and that he was able to help you maximize taking in the beautiful Grand Canyon. He was very knowledgeable and had an easy manner. We learned so much on this trip. I would highly recommend it. We felt like we had hit the jackpot getting Steve as our driver
