Small Group Half Day Sonoma Wine Country Tour

Overview
Elegance and expedience. A truly memorable afternoon in the heart of the Wine Country.
You will be picked from your hotel in downtown San Francisco, Nob Hill, The Wharf, and after the tour, we will bring you back to the same location.
We always make a short stop on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge to take pictures and to compare temperatures there and in Sonoma.
On the way to the wineries, you will hear about the history of San Francisco and California, as well as about the wine industry in Sonoma and Napa.
From the freeway, you will see St. Quintin, the Mission in San Rafael, and Marin County Civic Center building by Frank Lloyd Wright.
We will visit 2 wineries in Sonoma and spend at least one hour at each place.
Both tastings are included.
After the tastings, we will visit Sonoma Plaza, the largest public square in California, ex northernmost point of Mexico, home of the last 21 Californian Mission, Sonoma Barracks, and about 40 different restaurants.

This was an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Ulrich was extremely knowledgeable about all things wine, and provided us with great information. I would absolutely take this tour again- it was the highlight of our trip! Between scolding my fiancƩ regarding putting ice in his wine, to pulling over on the side of the road teaching the group how to properly hold a wine glass, this man simply knows what he is doing. Whether it was talking wine, topography, or famous landmarks, Ulrich is a master in his trade. Can not talk more highly about our trip! -Alison and Mike (Boston, MA)

The tour guide was excellent. Kept us entertained and informed throughout the trip, explaining the history of the places as we passed by. However the trip itself was not worth the time or money. There was no tour or explanation of the winery or vineyards , or wine making process . You are taken to two places and get to taste a total of 10 different wines . Which you can probably do in a bar

Dear Priya_M, thanks for your feedback. Yes, for sure, you can drink wine at a bar, but then you wouldn't be at a winery would you? That's part of what makes an experience like this special being at beautiful wineries and drinking wine right where it was made. Regarding your statement that the trip isn't worth the time or money, let's do the numbers. The cost for the guided tour you had was $139. The tasting fees at two wineries would easily equal $100 or so by itself. The gas and bridge tolls in your car to do an unguided tour by yourself from San Francisco to the wine country and back when eating up the remaining $39. You also mentioned that there was no tour of the wineries. Our wineries do tours but they cost more and take a lot more time than a taste by itself. That can be done only on a longer tour. And the explanation of the vineyards or wine-making process is done mostly by our driver guides, not the winery itself. You will find these things to be true of any wine tour company in the industry, not just A Taste of SF. The job of the staff at the wineries is to explain the characteristics of the wines to you. Their flavors, their food pairings, etc. That is another experience you simply cannot have at a bar.
