Small-Group Malibu Wine Hike

Overview

The hike is a guided 2.5 mile loop around the property where you will get to walk through the vines, see amazing views, visit our Chumash Native American cave paintings, and explore our organic garden. The hike is considered easy to moderate with about 300 feet of elevation gain and loss. This tour is open for all ages, however due to the terrain we cannot allow strollers or wagons. At the end of the tour guests will receive wine to-go.

We really enjoyed Stephanie's humor as she guided us around the property. We saw just a smidgen of the ranch but it was exhilarating on some of the trails. Got a good work out as it was!! There is a lot of history there, plus llamas, alpacas, horses, and mules. The break was a high point as they served us mulled wine and it was perfect on a cool day. Plus you get to take home 2 small cans of wine of your choice. It would be a fun first date, or to take some out of town visitors. A good place to spend some time whatever age!

My hiking group loves wine, so this was the perfect outing for us! Stephanie was a great guide. She was funny, knowledgeable and she offered to take pictures of us throughout the two mile hike. The grounds are amazingly beautiful and we saw lots of adorable animals including a 5 week old miniature mule! If you take the safari, you are drinking wine throughout the excursion, but we learned that for the hike you get a glass of mulled wine (or frose in the summer) midway through, then your choice of two of their cans at the end of the tour to take home. At first we did not love this but as we hiked, we realize they know what they are doing. Actively hiking and drinking all the way is probably a bad combo. The hike is easy to moderate and we stopped many times to see the animals and take pictures. It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours with friends!

Take the Malibu wine hike if you can when visiting the area. We did the hike with our guide Stephanie and it was a great experience. Stephanie was energetic, fun, knowledgable and made our time on the Saddle Rock vineyard a memorable one. It was a cool and cloudy day and we took a break on the covered tasting patio just as the rain started with some delicious mulled wine. Couldn't have timed it better! You will see native american pictographs, llamas, horses, gardens, orchards, sweeping vistas and amazing rock formations as you walk through the vines and learn about the resiliency of the land after wildfires ripped through the area years past. We ended the hike with some wine to enjoy on site or take home and they were delicious. All in all it was a great time and will be doing it again soon! Thank you Stephanie!
