Twomey Cellars
After lunch, your small group heads to the intimate, yet modern winery, Twomey Cellars. Founded by the Duncan Family, owners of highly-regarded Silver Oak, the winery uses the same philosophy: use locally harvested fruit to make exceptional wines that are deliciously drinkable upon release. A laid-back Napa Valley vibe is created by their farmhouse-style tasting room that opens up onto a sun-filled courtyard and Sauvignon Blanc vineyard with views of the Calistoga foothills. The Duncans apply their 40 years of winemaking experience to create single-vineyard Pinot Noirs and estate Sauvignon Blancs that pair beautifully with food.

Great job by ALBERTO the tour guide with good stops. Great people on the tour and well paced. While I wondered about the value, in the end it was well worth it.

After the first stop, the A/C in our bus went out and we cooked for the remainder of our 10+ hour tour. Oppresive and unhealthy environment with no fresh air, just hot air. Were told blower and freon both out with no recourse. Tour guide Randal told HQ that everyone had agreed not to go for a bus exchange as the driver suggested--NOT TRUE. Second winery (a Randall late substitution) was Oakcreek? Grocery Store, an impersonal venue of many self serve vending machine wine tastes==terrible! Third stop Ru Vango was very good due to host Rudy. We sweltered in the oppresive heat all the way back home (guide did give us some water). First stop at Amorosa was not well organized--no group cohesion or fun possible as we were all told to go in by 2's only. Overall, guide Randall impressed primarily himself with nonstop wine talk, not pointing out the many famous wineries enroute. We were told to not speak while he was talking so had to whisper to our partners about the surroundings, so as not to interrupt his soliliquy. I do not believe the story we were told that Extranomical Tours put us in a big bus rather than a smaller one to allow better air flow. We saw your labeled tour bus -- a nice size-- leave the Mossley Hotel where we did a pickup. Were not given a believable reason why you could not foresee or remedy this messup. Many of the clients may now get sick after such an unhealthy environment. Waste of over $518 for this fiasco! There should be a refund for your overall shortfall and mistakes. Tour guide just ignored that suggestion by a Montreal couple. The law, esp. with viral risks in the environment, should penalize Viator/Extra tours for your failure to provide satisfactory service. DO NOT USE THIS TOUR COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. YOU MAY HAVE TO BRING OXYGEN. A WASTE OF MONEY AND A HEALTH RISK

We are sorry for what you experienced last week when unprecedented 110 degree temperatures made the wine country a difficult place to visit. As we explained when we talked, we mitigated the heat by reducing the capacity of our vehicles for passenger comfort. This was not entirely effective in the unusual conditions and have, therefore, granted your request for a full refund. We hope you will return and try the tour again with us--perhaps with better conditions.

Randall was extremely helpful in sharing early on the 5 "s" rules of wine tasting, of possible wines to taste and why, together with possible lunch sites, thus reducing the anxieties of the trip so we could just relax, enjoy ourselves and learn!
