Small-Group Surf Lesson on the Big Island

Overview

You never forget your first wave, as surfing enthusiasts in Hawaii are prone to say, so make sure your first wave is a good one with a small-group surf lesson on the Big Island. This 2-hour Kona surf lesson starts with the basics, like surfing safety, etiquette and how to paddle and pop up on the board. Then take to the water to practice your newfound skills on the waves of Kahalu'u Bay! A knowledgeable surfing instructor will be in the water with you, telling you when to paddle and when to pop up. It’s a Hawaiian experience everyone should try at least once!

Overall great experience! The staff was friendly and organized. The shop is conveniently located so that you can walk across the street and start surfing. Mar was an AMAZING instructor and is nice to talk to while you're waiting for a good wave! I never imagined I would even be able to get up on my board that day but I followed her instructions and I was able to stand and ride a couple waves towards the shore within an hour! Such a good time and great experience! I highly recommend. Thank you to staff and especially to Mar!

Must see. Mantis never came for 45 mins. Octah the guide asked the captain for 5 min more minutes and a huge one came up almost on call and made the whole trip. Waters not warm . Wear personal wetsuit if you have one. Shaking the whole time out there. Brrr
