When I booked to come to San Fransisco, I was very excited at the prospect of doing a day trip to Yosemite national park and seeing the giant sequoia trees. Sadly this trip didn’t meet my expectations. On pick up, the tour guide, Phil, had a rather abrasive manner to the members of the group and was very concerned with timings even though as far as it seemed we were running to schedule. The first thing he declared when we got into the van was that there was no chance we were going to see the giant sequoias that day because the weather would be too bad. This was very disappointing to everyone who had booked this tour especially for that reason. He seemed to brush off this news without any apologies. The transport to Yosemite was comfortable but unfortunately fuelled with anxiety by the manner of driving. We travelled at high speed the entire way and most of the journey with one hand on the wheel, even as we travelled on roads with hairpin turns on the edges of the valleys. We did the usual photo spots that you would hope for Yosemite but there was very little time for exploring. The morning felt very rushed and I understand this was because the rain was supposed to get worse but this made the experience feel very disorganised. The timings and plans for lunch and the afternoon seemed to change at every given minute. Most of the tour group were oblivious to what the plans were throughout the day. Overall, I feel Phil tried to make the experience enjoyable but it felt very disorganised and not what I expected. I was glad just to get back to the hotel safely that evening.

We are very sad that you were disappointed with your day in the park. Let's address your issues: 1) PICK UP TIMES: We pride ourselves in picking people up at their hotels a a very specific time. If the first people arrive late, it it is unfair to the later passengers (who come on time) to wait at their hotels so early in the morning. It only makes sense that the driver was hurrying passengers who wanted to be at the bus in "just 5 minutes" on behalf of the later (on time) passengers 2) "DISORGANISED": The weather report on the day of your tour stated that there was going to be rain all afternoon. Therefore we did all of our outdoor activities early the day to take advantage of the sun before the storm moved in. The rain did not begin until later in the day, therefore we continually added special activities until the rain began. We could have stuck to the regular itinerary and spent all afternoon in the soaking wet, but wanted to offer the best experience possible with the ever-changing weather report. 3) DRIVING: We will address this issue with the guide. 4) GIANT SEQUOIAS: As stated plainly on our website, the park closes the Giant Sequoia trail in bad weather, so that is an issue over which we have no control. We want to ensure that our guest have a quality experience, therefore we are sad that you did not enjoy your day in the park.

Brian our driver/ guide and all around person was excellent! He was well organized, knowledgeable and very personable. The time spent in transit was filled with slides and videos around Yosemite and rock climbing. We went to sites in the park that he average visitors would miss. He helped not only with knowing great spots for excellent photos but also settings etc. He had telescopes to help us see the climbers on El Capitan clearly and had the knowledge regarding climbing. We had adequate restroom and food stops. The pace of the day was just right, enough time at each stop but not too long where you felt you were waiting. I strongly recommend this trip and would come back and do it again!
