What To Expect

Zion Canyon Visitor Center

Enjoy hotel pick up from Las Vegas Strip or downtown hotels at approximately 7am to begin your day trip to the amazing Zion National Park. Head for Zion, which is roughly 163 miles from Las Vegas near Springdale, Utah. Relax on the drive as you get to know the other travelers in your small group (never more than 14 passengers per group) and your certified interpretive guide.

Zion Shuttle

Take in the scenery of Zion Canyon, which cuts 15 miles through the sandstone of the park. Drive through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel, which gives travelers direct access from Zion to nearby Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon.

Zion Canyon Scenic Drive

Ride the shuttle or in the winter months drive with your guide thru the park

Weeping Rock Trail

Take a short hike to Weeping Rock. The water flowing thru the rocks is approx 800 years old.

Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway

We originally wanted to do the Bryce Canyon tour but that was unavailable for the day we wanted to go. ZION was offered as an alternative. We were picked up at our hotel in Las Vegas around 7 AM. Our guide was Julian and there were 8 people on our tour. The van looked new and was reasonably comfortable. We were back around 7 pm. On the ride to ZION, Julian identified and explained points of interest along the way. He also spoke extensively about the natural history and human history as well as the geology of the area. He did a great job. The actual tour of the national park was divided into two parts. First, Julian drove us along a main road crowded with tourist vehicles. He explained what we were looking at and stopped frequently so we could take pictures. The views were fantastic. The second part of the tour was in an area where the National Park Service allows only it's own vehicles. They have a hop on - hop off free shuttle that makes 8 designated stops. The shuttle drivers explain what is at each stop and give descriptions of the walking trails each stop offers access to. Most trails are paved and I saw wheel chairs and baby carriages in use. The scenery at ZION is awesome. I liked it better than Yosemite because ZION gave me a more personal experience. While Yosemite is broadly majestic ZION is right in your face. You can feel it.

Our guide was great, but honestly, it was way too much time spent on the bus and not enough time to explore the park. The bus drives into the park and takes you to a few landmarks, which are nothing compared to the beauty of the actual park trails.
