The Space Centre in Houston is an amazing place, even if you're not particularly interested in space travel. What NASA has achieved over the years is incredible and the centre shows off the history and future in some great exhibits. The indoor environment is very comfortable with plenty of space, good lighting that highlights the exciting content and is a comfortable temperature (unlike the heat of outside). Being able to explore the Independence shuttle mounted on the carrier aircraft was particularly impressive. Sadly because of Tropical Storm Imelda the tram tour was cancelled so to miss the Astronaut Training Facility and Mission Control Center Tour was hugely disappointing but out of everyone's control. NASA did arrange a very interesting presentation on disaster contingency and the centre entry fee was reduced on the day, although because I had purchased an advanced ticket through Viator, I paid full price. I enjoyed my visit and I'm sure with the tram tour, a day at the Space Centre would be even better.
