You will arrive here and wonder whether you have got the right place because it isn't obvious .... it's basically just a small hut with a very friendly man inside it and a small car park! This is where you sign up for your speed boat adventure and trust me it will be the best thing you do on your holiday to Florida. From such an unlikely looking attraction comes such an amazing experience. I think the tours went at 11am 1pm 3pm or something like that. You put a life jacket on, meet your guide who is the coolest guy you could ever meet, you then get in a speed boat and drive it yourself! in fact they are a lot simplier to drive than you might think. You then follow your guide at a safe distance for around an hour and a half stopping every 25 mins or so for a quick bit of history on the area and to check you are ok with the driving. We went out with another couple which was even nicer! You will get very sun burnt so take lotion and a camera because the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. You will remember the experience for the rest of your life, i can't recommend it enough.

Speed Boat Adventure Tour in Terra Verde, St Petersburg, FL. What an awesome day. We went out with a guide in two speed boats. We followed and stopped at spots to see dolphins, manatees and the sights. Avril was first to spot the dolphins. We Captined our speed boat and went as fast as we wanted out in the open water. Cam singed us in at the Tiki hut and Scott took us out - both these guys were great! What a fantastic thrill. See the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D45P42fUO8Q

During our trip to St Petes Beach our 3 year old wanted to go on a 'fast boat'. The Dolphin Racer was unavailable so our hotel gave me the card for Speed Boat Adventures and it was better than we could have imagined! For not much more than the family cost of a regular sightseeing cruise we got to 'drive 'our own boat following our tour guide Scott, who was patient, relaxed and knew exactly where we were, what to look at, and most importantly, if we needed help or advice. Being in a small boat so close to the water was a real blast, especially the first time we put the throttle all the way forwards, and it really didn't take long to get used to how to control the boat. We had so much fun we went back again later in the week with my wife and our 18 month old and they loved it too! Definitely going to do this again next time we're in St Petes.
