Overview

Here at Ohana Surf Project we believe our clients are like family, and we strive to provide the best service to every person who chooses to join us on the water and we welcome their loved ones who come along to support them as well. We are passionate about surfing and specialize in three ways of teaching you how to glide across the water: surf, stand up paddle and bodyboard. All of our staff members have been in the business for many years and are some of the finest instructors in the industry. We love what we do and we enjoy working together, as a team and as ohana to make our students feel safe, comfortable, and successful.

Our biggest priority is SAFETY! All our coaches and guides are professional, trained in safety (CPR, lifeguard, first aid), and friendly.

If you are prone to seasickness, you may want to take a remedy you are accustomed to using before the lesson (talk to your doctor for recommendations).
All of our written materials are also available in Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. We will do our best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese speaking-instructors with enough advance notice.
Please come prepared for the lesson by wearing your bathing suit, bringing a towel and making sure to apply sunscreen ahead of time.
Complimentary transportation is available from select locations in Waikiki. Exact pick-up location and time will be emailed to you by the supplier. If you do not receive these details 24 hours prior to your lesson, please contact us.

These folks are very customer service oriented. My instructor, Kol, was excellent and taught me a new tip. Paddle boarding in ocean water is different than in a lake or flat water. The instructor was very patient and gave good instruction for stability. It was an easy walk from the heart of Waikiki. Heads up they give you water booties, so you don't need to bring your own water shoes.

I had a private SUP lesson with Matt. He was a chilled relaxed character who took me out to the surf break at Waikiki Beach. With his help I was able to FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER able to SUP surf a wave catching the wave WHILST STANDING!! This has been on my over 50s bucket list so I can now tick this off as DONE! I went back and had another lesson with him, this time with my son. He, again, was the detail orientated relaxed and patient teacher who is a pleasure to learn with. He was also ever so attentive and when I had a wipeout and the board landed on my head and I swallowed water which stressed me a little, he was right there helping me. I highly recommend Matt from Ohana Surf Project.

This was an AMAZING experience. Not only did I have a GREAT time, but it was so much better because of Kevin and all of his help. He was very patient and knows how to teach you like you are a beginner. My whole experience with the whole Ohana Surf Project was awesome. With no doubt I would DEFINITLEY recommend Ohana Surf Project.
