Savor the beauty and romance of the New Orleans skyline aboard the Dinner Jazz Cruise. Enjoy the tunes of the Dukes of Dixieland jazz band and a narrated tour provided by our captain while cruising the Mighty Mississippi River.

Please note: there are two seating times for dinner, so please make sure to check availability of both if one is not available. The first dinner seating is from 6-7:15pm and the second dinner seating is from 7:45-9pm.

The Steamboat NATCHEZ is taking some time off, but her sister vessel, the Riverboat CITY of NEW ORLEANS will be taking her place. You’ll get the same authentic riverboat experience of a leisurely, two-hour cruise on the mighty Mississippi, enjoying traditional live jazz, craft cocktails, and all the beautiful New Orleans sites, while also exploring the newly renovated riverboat. Make sure you check out all four decks - the top deck view is a sight to see! Upgrade your ticket to include the dinner buffet.

In order to help preserve the French Quarter from vehicular traffic, it is requested that you please walk, if possible, to the convenient tour departure point - just a short stroll from most downtown hotels.
The riverboat is handicap accessible. However, access to the top & bottom decks are by stairs only. Please call before finalizing your plans if you have questions on access or personal equipment.

What To Expect

Mississippi River

Your riverboat is a time machine that fills its passengers with the romance and marvel of yesteryear! Cruise along the Mississippi River and be whisked away with its atmosphere and ambiance. As you steam ahead, soak in breathtaking views of the city skyline while enjoying a New Orleans cultural experience – a live jazz performance performed by the New Orleans band Dukes of Dixieland, a Grammy nominee. Enjoy dining inside or outside, and your Louisiana-style buffet dinner includes tossed salad, chicken and sausage gumbo, rice, baked chicken, bayou seafood pasta, paddlewheel primavera, creole vegetarian jambalaya, herb-garlic fingerling potatoes, green beans almondine, white chocolate bread pudding, bananas foster, and vanilla ice cream. Two separate dining times give you the flexibility to enjoy the evening at your own pace. Please note: cruise with dinner option must be selected in order to confirm that your cruise includes the meal.

My Mom and I loved this experience. Before we boarding we enjoyed listening to the calliope player. Boarding was easy. All of our staff interactions were great. We loved the jazz band on the 4th deck. Plenty of seating for everyone. I would suggest more than one bartender on the 4th deck, the line was long for drinks. Dinner was delicious and set-up nicely to serve a lot of people. Special shout out to Jimmy, our waiter, who was REALLY AMAZING!!

What was supposed to be a dear friends 40th birthday celebration turned into a disaster. First and foremost there was only 2 functional bars who only had one bartender and the upstairs bar was closed for a private party. During said party, the bar was completely empty yet the lines for the other bars were out the doors! The tables were broken and the one we sat toppled as we sat down and ruined a brand new pair of shoes. We were scheduled for dinner at 7:45pm. We sat at table 150 and sat and watched other people be seated and attended to by servers while we waited. It is now 8:28pm and we have yet to be greeted by a server or brought bread or gumbo. I literally had to stop someone to ask for it and she told me she was busy getting other tables situated and would get to us soon. She dropped off the break and gumbo and never saw her again. The food was ice cold when we finally figured out that we just get up and not by table. We thought there was going to be music as it is an advertised jazz cruise however the only floor that plays music is the top floor and it’s so crowded you can’t even get off the stairs. Overall not worth the money we paid AT ALL!

The tour around the harbour was good. Meal was delicious and ample and dining room service was adequate. The bar service was terrible….45 minute wait as only two bartenders who were working very hard and efficiently, bring your own bottled water as you’ll wait forever before the meal commences. The music was wonderful for the amount of time they played. Would not recommend for those with a 745p meal service or for those who have travelled and enjoyed other events like this. Perhaps ticket sales should be capped if there is not enough staff to maintain service. Communication was confusing at meal time. We were on the dining floor level, then sent down with all the others in line to the lower level and then moved back up to the dining level. Make sure you bring warm clothing as the temperature can be cooler.
