Sunrise photography in Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands National Park

Overview
We will visit at least three world class locations for photography in Utah's Canyonlands. I have traveled extensively in search of amazing photographic locations, and it is hard to beat Dead Horse Point and the Islands in the Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. I will show you great locations, and make suggestions on composition and subject matter. I can even help you with your camera settings if you are a beginner.

Options to extend the tour to a full day (to include Arches National Park).

Note: There is a 2 person minimum for all 1/2 day tours. If you wish to book and you are solo, contact me with your availability and I will attempt to pair you with others.

We highly recommend this trip. You have to get up early and drive in the dark to a meeting point, but you will be rewarded by the beautiful sunrise at the Dead horse point dramatic desert landscape at Canyonlands park. Colin knows excellent spots for landscape photography and shares professional tips for getting better photos. I also learned great deal from him about my camera, Canon R5 and its multiple functions.

My morning Moab tour with Colin Young of Rock Light Photo Tours was a wonderful experience of views and images. We started the day seeing the sunrise at Dead Horse Point State Park. I had long wanted to visit this place and it lived up to all my expectations. Colin knew all the places to be and what time to be there to capture special images. And along with his expertise in the use of natural lighting, he guided me on how to optimally compose my photos at each shooting location. We also visited Canyonlands National Park during the tour. I had been there before and had heard that Mesa Arch looks really nice when backlit by the sun's early morning light. I didn't think that I would ever get to see that, but I did thanks to Colin and I have some great pictures as well! After other stops to see and photograph the switchbacks of the Shafer Trail and the White Rim in the Islands in the Sky District of Canyonlands, our morning adventure ended with photos of petroglyphs on cliffs along the Colorada River. Thank you Colin for helping me create such vivid and inspiring images.

Colin did a wonderful job showing us the sites for our tour. He was so patient as we walked to the different sites. He also helped me with the settings on my camera.
